On the 1st of November we were welcomed into the HQ of TEFL Scotland - tucked upstairs in a tardis like office in the High Street. We enjoyed a fascinating presentation on the growth of TEFL Scotland from their garden shed to a company that now has clients all across the world enjoying their online courses, tutors delivering courses throughout the UK as well as tutors and staff overseas delivering online courses too.
It was clear that Joe and Jennifer make a great team with Joe being the creative ideas person and Jennifer playing a balancing role - an ideal business combination. It was also patently clear that they were passionate about their business, about being the best and about innovating new ideas for services. An example of this is the new website just being launched for teachers of TEFL to teach online. The teachers will be rated in a similar way to the ebay rating buyers are able to give sellers so it will become clear very quickly who are the good teachers and who are the great teachers. Tutors will be able to use the online service to deliver teaching online and charge what they like for the time with TEFL taking a small percentage of this fee to cover their cost.
After a great presentation, during which several of the audience were so impressed they felt inclined to pack up their bags and head across the world teaching, we enjoyed tapas. It came from a local business that has been in open in Dingwall for 4 months called Spainsun. If you are ever the town centre in Dingwall it is worth making the short trip up towards the Puffin Pool shop for this little oasis of chorizo, olive oil, cheese and a great selection of spanish wines.
Having done a Fusion profile on TEFL Scotland we are in a much better position to spread the word about this great business and will be networking on their, and our other members behalfs, as usual.
