Leadership for Women at Work

Today I have started the first day of a course all about Leadership for Women and run by the Social Enterprise Academy.

It has been a relaxed start to the day but there is a real mix of delegates attending and some interesting issues have arisen already. It is clear that there is a feeling if women are strong leaders then they can often be perceived as bossy, single minded, abrupt and a whole manner of not necessarily positive things.

How well timed that when checking in LinkedIN today this great article entitled "The 10 Worst Stereotypes About Powerful Women" by Jenna Goudrea popped up. It lists a variety of stereotypes and some examples of women who are definitely not the stereotypes listed.

Fusion of course is a network that links rural businesses to help them grow but a recent addition has been our Women in Business group which has now had 2 meetings and recently mapped out the next 6 months worth of events. The ladies in this group are particularly keen on mentoring younger people looking to go into business so there are some exciting things coming up.

Fusion is a social enterprise and by improving this course I hope to improve my skills in this area and improve my contribution to Fusion's fantastic work.
